The Centre for Parliamentary Studies - in partnership with the National School of Government- provides a range of training and development activities for Ministers and their staff.

Delivering Through Your Department

A one-on-one tailored briefing session. Useful systems and techniques for leading the delivery of your policy priorities: understanding the information which civil servants are providing, keeping on top of programmes and projects, getting independent information, managing risks.

Tailored Briefing Sessions

Covering aspects of strategy, policy and delivery, according to need - using live case study materials from a Ministerial portfolio. These can also focus on machinery of government issues relevant to Ministers.

Ministers and Parliament

Workshops focusing on the specific demands of Parliamentary work on Ministers, and internal government processes. These can offer a broad overview or focus on technical aspects. This is linked to the Centre for Parliamentary Studies and National School 's programme of tailored training for Bill Teams in cooperation with the Parliamentary Business Managers and the Legislation Secretariat of the Cabinet Office.

Private Office Workshop

A Private Office Workshop allows a Minister and their Private Office team the opportunity to meet away from the pressures of the office, and review their working practices and relationships in the light of the Minister's policy priorities.

Parliamentary Skills for Private Office Staff

Ministers are keen for their staff to have an excellent working knowledge of Parliamentary process. The Centre for Parliamentary Studies and the National School can organise tailored training sessions for one or more Private Offices, and also runs an Induction Workshop which focuses heavily on Parliament.
