Hilary Fisher, Director of End Child Poverty

Hilary Fisher joined the organization to lead a major campaigning push by charities working with children and families to challenge public attitudes to poverty in the UK and campaign for a better childhood for all our children.

Hilary is currently chair of the Council of Europe Expert Task Force on violence against women, including Domestic Violence, nominated by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. The Task Force drafted the blueprint for the Pan – European Campaign to Combat Violence against Women launched in November 2006 and will shortly be producing recommendations to the Council of Europe and member states on measures to combat violence against women

Hilary is Co Chair of the Women’s Budget Group an independent organisation bringing together individuals from academia, non-governmental organisations and trades unions to promote gender equality through appropriate economic policy.

Hilary is also a member of the independent Social Mobility Commission established by the Liberal Democrats to investigate the reasons for Britain’s apparently low levels of social mobility and recommend policy changes to enable children from disadvantaged backgrounds to fulfill their full potential.

Hilary joined End Child Poverty from Amnesty International where she managed the global campaign to Stop Violence Against Women.
